What is the process?

Assessment

An initial assessment is a 60-90 minute session where your therapist will focus on gaining an in depth understanding of your difficulties and clarifying your goals.

Treatment

Following an assessment session your therapist will discuss a treatment plan which will outline what therapeutic approaches may be helpful for you and how many sessions may be required. Therapy sessions are 50-60 minutes and may be booked weekly, fortnightly or less depending on the goals identified. Therapy is a collaborative process which your therapist will review regularly to ensure you are on track towards your goals.

How long will treatment take?

The duration of individual treatment varies considerably.

Some clients may find 6-12 session brief intervention is sufficient to meet their treatment goals. For others, more ongoing work over months or years may be indicated at varying levels of intensity (weekly/fortnightly/monthly).

As a general average, we see many of our clients for approximately 20 sessions over a 9-12 month period.
